Well-known American pathologist, Dr. Cyril Wecht, has told the press that he does not feel that foul play was in any way responsible for the death of Anna Nicole Smith's 20-year-old son, Daniel, a week ago.

According the The Tribune, one of the main daily newspapers in Nassau, Bahamas, Dr. Wecht took only four hours to examine Smith's body and reach his conclusion. However, he did not shed any further light on the exact cause of the death, which is officially listed as "awaiting the outcome of toxicology tests."

In the absence of these toxicology tests--which Dr. Wecht said could take several weeks to fully complete--the best the doctor could do was to rule out specific causes of death. Wecht indicated that he did not encounter any abnormality in Smith's system that would make him suspicious.

Dr Wecht ruled out that heart disease, cancer, systematic infection, or some congential anomoly that had not been detected had any role to play in Daniel Smith's death. This conclusion leads to additional speculation about the exact cause of such a sudden death in an apparently healthy 20-year-old man.

Wecht went onto say that, although he did not see any indication of drugs or poisons in his examination, he could not draw any conclusion until the tissue and organ samples had been examined under the microscope as part of the toxicology report.

Anna Nicole Smith's Bahamian attorney, Michael Scott of Callendar's & Co Law Firm, has urged the press to respect his client's privacy and stop speculating on the cause of her son's death until all the information is made available.
