As I'm fond of doing, I sometimes call attention to the creative use of the English language here in the Bahamas. There are examples everywhere, and whenever I have my camera handy, I try to capture them.

One such situation occurred the other day while I was driving through Palmdale, an area here in Nassau. I was stopped at a green light . . . wait, it was red . . .

Anyway, I looked at the old building next to my car and saw this sign hanging on the side. I don't know about you, but I'm not quite sure what "excellences" are.

I'm not even sure I'd like my house decorated with them.

But clearly, the sign says "Uniquely Designed with Excellences in Mind."

excellences

Excellences are obviously the ubiquitous quality control utilized by Bahamian industry responsible for sign manufacturing. Or maybe house painting...would you believe traffic control??? Hmmm must give this more thought.

Lisa,

Thank you for your scintillating and thought-provoking comments.

Your spelling is impeccable and I believe you've captured the philosophical essence of modern existential angst.

Yours truly,
Joe
